Become Involved in Intercessory Prayer with Dale Black Ministries: Many of the problems we face personally, see in the lives of those we love, and hear about in our world, appear too big for us. The truth is, no matter how much we try, we are unable to solve most of them in our own strength. Its times like these we need to turn to God in intercessory prayer.

Intercession is a type of prayer mentioned in the Bible that is prayed on behalf of others. Jesus is our example of an Intercessor in that He intercedes to God in our behalf, for God’s will to be accomplished in our lives.

Intercession is warfare! And intercessory prayer is the key to God’s battle plan for our lives and those around us. But this battleground is not of this earth. The Bible says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12). Intercessory prayer takes place in the spiritual realm where the battles are won or lost.

If you are born-again Christian, you are God’s child (John 1:12). As His son or daughter, you have a direct “hotline” to God. At any time, you can come boldly into His presence (Hebrews 4:16).

This incredible access to God is the starting point for intercession. Then you need His battle plan for the situation you are interceding for. To have faith that your prayers will be answered, you must pray in agreement with God’s will and His Word. “Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For anyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matt. 7:7-8).

God is calling Christians to join His battle plan for this world—to participate in intercessory prayer. He is not looking for perfect prayer warriors, just willing hearts who want to see His will come to pass on the earth—those who are willing to be doers of His word.

If you’d like to start an adventure of faith as an intercessor, pray this prayer: “Father, I ask You to give me the heart of the intercessor. Help me to be persistent in prayer until the breakthrough comes. Thank You for this powerful weapon of spiritual warfare—and for Your faithfulness to lead me into truth and victory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
