You’ve noticed the world getting crazier, right? We’re becoming accustom to hearing about terrorist acts or some catastrophe somewhere in the world. Bad news is on the rise and sadly violence is often the norm.

In this new era of tribulation many are experiencing more anxiety, fear and even terror. We realize that with every day the world is one day closer to the end of this age. As the world races toward that end, the spirit of antichrist grows. These new tribulations of destruction, terror and death are clearly Satan’s handiwork.

In anticipation of these days, the Lord left us with some instruction and promises so that we would not fear. In fact Jesus instructed us to have peace. Peace in this day and age is supernatural. It does not come from this world, in fact it is opposite of what the world offers.

In John 16:33 Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”  Praise the Lord! As God’s children–those who have put their faith in Jesus–we have access to the supernatural.

Jesus not only told us that peace is available, He told us to be of good cheer. Notice that Jesus doesn’t bury His head in the sand and pretend that everything is wonderful. He acknowledges the world’s condition by stating that in this world we “will have tribulation.” But in spite of that tribulation He tells us to “be of good cheer,” because He has overcome this world and through Him we are also able to overcome.

Thankfully God does not give a promise to His children without instructions, or a “how to”.  We’re instructed to fill our hearts with faith in God and His Word. When we do this regularly it is like turning on a light in a dark room. By turning on the Light, there is no place left for darkness and fear. The more light we bring in, the less shadows can remain.

Light casts out darkness just as faith casts out fear. It is a supernatural truth. Faith comes from God’s Word. And when you walk in faith, speak in faith, and think thoughts of faith, you become victorious over fear. How do you do that? The answer is to spend adequate time with God and His Word.

Romans 10:17 tells us how we acquire the faith I’m describing. “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Take the time needed to read or hear God’s Word today. Keep your focus on Him and on His love for you. He has provided a place of protection to His children, yet the peace that comes requires faith. He will is for you to have peace and joy and live life to the fullest.

Too many read a daily scripture and assume that’s enough. Then they wonder why they are anxious and fearful. In principle, our spirit operates much like our physical body in regards to health. Taking a vitamin is good but it’s not enough to counter all the negative effects of toxins, stress and poor eating. We must OVERCOME. Jesus overcame by doing MORE THAN ENOUGH. If we don’t spend adequate time strengthening our spirit with His Word, renewing our mind to think like Christ, and allowing His spirit access to our lives, then we don’t benefit from what He has provided for us.

In Psalm 91:14-16, God describes our responsibility and His promise. I encourage you to take the time to mediate on this passage. God is saying that we must set our love upon Him in order for Him to deliver us… to answer us when we are in trouble.

You may ask, “How do we show love to God?” The answer is, by spending time with Him–just as we show our children that we love them by spending time in fellowship with them.

Don’t forget… you ARE a spirit, first and foremost. You HAVE a soul (mind, will and emotions) and you LIVE IN a body (the vehicle which houses your spirit and soul). Since the real you is your spirit—be sure to adequately feed and nourish it daily so that you can be “strong in the Lord and the power of His might!”

“Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 AMP

Wow! What a powerful promise we have from our Father. Make the quality choice to believe it and live it out. As the world gets darker you can shine a greater light and live with peace.

In His love,
